The Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10K is pleased to be working in partnership with Chesterfield Borough Council to deliver the annual Chesterfield 10K.

In accordance with traffic authority regulations for Derbyshire County Council, an order has been made prohibiting and restricting the use of certain roads and road junctions by vehicles in order to facilitate the safe holding of the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10K.

The event will require the closure of roads and road junctions, car parking restrictions as well as the suspension of a number of Traffic Regulation Orders between 07:00 until 13:00 on Sunday 24 ^th March 2024.

A full list of closures, including approximate times, is provided overleaf. We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your support of the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10K.

MLS Launch The 2023 British Transplant Games

November 29th, 2022, saw the MLS Team Support Transplant Sports officially launch the 2023 Westfield Health British Transplant Games in Coventry. The launch looked ahead to the multi-sport event taking place in July of 2023, which will bring together over a thousand transplant athletes, Live Donors and Donor Families from across the UK. MLS are once again organising the Westfield Health British Transplant Games on behalf on Transplant Sport.

MLS Director John Timms is reprising his role as Event Director for the Games, overseeing the 15 strong MLS team who plan and deliver the 5 Day festival of sport (Over 20 Sports) and competition. The games will bring over 1000 competitors, 1500 registered supported and over 250 volunteers head to Coventry to compete for their transplant hospital teams.

The launch event took place at Square One, The Hub at Coventry University, gathering stakeholders, sponsors, donor families, and transplant recipients to celebrate the gift of life and ignite the flame commencing the countdown to the 45 ^th annual Games.

The Games aim to raise awareness of the life-saving benefits of organ donation and encourage transplant recipients to stay active post-transplant. Transplanted athletes ranging from the ages of three to eighty plus, from over 50 hospital teams across the UK will represent their Transplant Unit with the support of family, friends, and volunteers to compete in the Games. Over the Summer the games where hosted in Leeds which received over £2 million Direct Economic Impact from hosting the games and a media reach of over 3.3 Billion!

The MLS Team deliver another successful Chesterfield 10K Race Series

The MLS team have been hard at work delivering the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10K Festival of Running!

The 20 strong MLS Team were led by Senior Event Manager Alison Bridge who ensured the event ran smoothly both prior and during the race. MLS undertook the preparation, liaising with external contractors, stakeholders, Safety Advisory Group and creating Event Planning documentation. During event week the team the team moved into Queens Park overseeing site overlay and infrastructure alongside the approved suppliers and Runner Pack Pick Ups at Headline Sponsors Redbrik Estate Agents Chesterfield Office. On Race Day Event Director John Timms lead a multi-agency Event Control, with the rest of team on the ground leading 140 volunteers providing a safe route for the runners around the streets of Chesterfield.

The Festival of Running kicked off on Friday 14th October with students from local schools taking part in the Pronto Paints Wellbeing Challenge. Students from William Rhodes Primary School who took part in a number of physical activities and games and then finished with a 1K Fun Run around Queens Park. In the afternoon we were joined by 180 Year 7 students from Brookfield Community School who completed a 5K Fun Run designed to make the students challenge and push themselves!

Sunday 16th October saw the main event of The Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10k take place which has been hailed a great success by organisers, event partners and participants after more than 1000 runners.

Robert Byers was the first to cross the 10k finish line with a time of 32:56, with Hayley Gill the first female to finish in a time of 37:45 both setting new course records.

The oldest participant in the event was John Menary aged 78, and Jayden Peace was the youngest at 15 years old.

Alongside the 10K race saw the City Taxis Fun Run, a 1K dash around Queens Park perfect for families, children or anyone wanting to give running a try! Max Taylor was the winner of the City Taxi’s Fun Run this year taking a strong lead in the race.

Around 12 organisations also took part in the first Pronto Paints Wellbeing Challenge, a team entry into the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10K’s events.

The event also helped raise thousands for good causes across the region, with circa £30,000 pledged for charities including main charity partners – Redbrik Foundation, Chesterfield-based Ashgate Hospice and North Anston-based Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, along with many other charities selected by the runners from across the region.

Following the event, John Timms, Event Director of the Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10k said: “It’s been fantastic to see another successful Redbrik Chesterfield 10k. We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped ensure that the event came together, including our event partners, sponsors and each and every runner on the day. In particular we would like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteer marshals who gave up their free time on a Sunday morning to keep everything running smoothly, from assisting the runners and helping the general public."

David Cooper, Trustee of headline sponsor the Redbrik Foundation and a participant in the 10k said: “We’ve really enjoyed working with the Chesterfield 10k team, giving something back to Chesterfield who have always been supportive of our estate agency Redbrik, now approaching its 10th year in business. Seeing the number of spectators lining the streets of the town centre was wonderful, it really showed how much support the people of Chesterfield have to give. Events such as the Chesterfield 10k help to showcase the town on a large scale, with huge numbers of people coming from all parts of the country to support, contribute or take part. Bring on 2023!”

Six months until International Children's Games come to Coventry

There are now just six months to go until the International Children’s Games 2022 (ICG 2022) comes to Coventry with the Games running from 11-16 August 2022. To celebrate, the ICG 2022 Team is launching a series of videos on YouTube and social media channels from the official International Children’s Games Committee.

You will find a video from each of the Committee; Torsten Rasch- President, Igor Topole - Vice President, Richard Smith - Secretary General and Hugh Waters - Executive Member. You’ll see each member at a different sporting location that will be part of the Games this summer.

There are more than 1,500 participants aged 12-15 years from over 80 cities coming to Coventry to compete in the Games from five continents this summer.

There are seven sports that participants will compete in and be representing their city. Coventry’s Games will be making history as tennis, athletics, swimming and wheelchair basketball will all be accessible for the first time in the history of the International Children’s Games.

Coventry also aims to make the Games as environmentally friendly as possible throughout, with everything from transport – including the use of electric vehicles - to Games branding.

Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader, Coventry City Council and Chair of International Children's Games Stakeholder Board, said: “Now we are at the six months to go mark, things are really starting to feel real.

“At each milestone we mark, there is more and more excitement building around the Games. We will soon be seeing more Team Coventry selection days, community activity and more inspiring announcements.

“There is also just one week to go until the Team Coventry logo design competition closes. Schools should select their top three and send them to us so we can decide which design will help inspire the official Team Coventry logo to be worn for the Games.”

The Team Coventry logo competition that is supported by Bericote Properties and Glencar Construction, will give Coventry schools students the opportunity to have their artwork inspire the official Team Coventry logo design. More information on the competition can be found on the ICG 2022 website.

MLS deliver the inaugural Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10k

MLS Contracts Ltd delivered the inaugural Redbrik Foundation Chesterfield 10k on the 17 ^th October 2021. MLS worked with its partners and sponsors during the Covid-19 pandemic and changed the Chesterfield Half Marathon race to create a more accessible 10K distance with the main title partnership with the Redbrik Foundation. The new distance as was expected drew larger participant numbers than the previous half marathon distance. The modifications to the event didn’t stop there, with MLS implementing on the Friday before the Pronto Paints Schools Wellbeing Challenge, with the aim to increase activity and raise awareness of the benefits of exercise in younger people. Event day also saw the City Taxis Fun Run with 100’s of people young people taking part while they waited for friends and family to return after the start of the 10K.

The Pronto Paints Wellbeing School Challenge attracted circa 80 children from Brookfield Community School. Brookfield’s “Young Leaders” worked alongside the Redbrik Foundation volunteers and MLS Staff to deliver this event as a test for future years, all pupils completed the 6 lap challenge in under 40 minutes. With all the teachers and additional schools expressing interest in joining in the event next year.

The newly developed 10k saw the 2021 Race safety maximum reached of 1,300 runners sign up with 940 taking their place on the starting line. Many runners hit PB’s and the event received huge positive feedback.

Runners had pledged to raise over £59K for charities in the region and the Events charity partner Ashgate Hospice coordinated the recruitment of the amazing volunteers who helped not only get the runners around the course safely but also cheered them on with the route packed with the residents of Chesterfield.

MLS TEAM BACKS CLIENTS AWARENESS CAMPAIGN in NATIONAL ORGAN DONATION WEEK

20th – 26th September 2021 was Organ Donation week in the UK and the MLS Team came out and supported the campaign and its client Transplant Sport by taking on the 5K Donor Run course that will be used for the 2022 Westfield Health British Transplant Games hosted in the City of Leeds.

MLS have organised the annual Westfield Health British Transplant Games on behalf of Transplant Sporty since 2007 and the Games had to be cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the risks for people who are immunosuppressed after having a life saving transplant.

MLS along with Transplant Sport and the British Transplant Games coordinated a series of virtual and small in person events in place of the postponed 2021 Games and targeted Organ Donation Week as a feature of these with the Virtual Donor run launched.

The Virtual Donor Run encourages both the Transplant Sport family and its members, along with those that attend the Games, to run or walk up to 5km in memory of Organ Donors and celebrate Donor Families at a location/route of their choice.

Members of the MLS team took to the roads with several heading up to Leeds to explore the route that the Games Family will use in the summer of 2022, which will see around 2000 people take part.

MLS Director and Event Director for the British Transplant Games John Timms was encouraged with all the activity that has been seen the Transplant sport family. “Its really important for our clients Transplant Sport and their stakeholders to make sure that through the pandemic and the cancellation of their events programme they wanted to ensure they provided support to transplantees many of whom were shielding for well over a year. It was important that we helped develop and deliver a mix of virtual and in person opportunities for both people with a Transplant to engage them and rebuild their confidence and support the Charities ongoing work to continue to raise awareness of organ donation and the benefits of transplantation. Its great our team wanted to support also.”
